"mama, can I please have a nightcap?"
Once I had established that Rose was after a pointy kind of hat such as you might wear to bed, as opposed to a scotch and ice after dinner,I went on the hunt for a pattern. Amanda over at Zhinka dinka doo has a pattern for an 'Elfin cap" that was just the thing (thank you Amanda!).
It only took a few evenings to complete using Jo Sharp Dk merino wool and the magic loop method on a size 4.5mm ( size 8) circular.
Now Charlotte is asking where her hat is....
Looks like the baby's crochet blanket will have to wait a bit longer.
(So glad to see that the odd sock soup' mini zine is turning up in letter boxes all over the world...thank you for all of the feedback!)
she is adorable!!! love the hat....

That is one cute hat all right and she looks delighted with it! Rose's photo is just the same angle as yours and it is uncanny how much alike you look!

Very cute hat. And please add me to the list of the lucky few who had odd sock soup waiting in my mailbox! It's simply gorgeous. Thanks again!

The nightcap looks great - much better than a scotch and ice! My mini zine has just arrived and is absolutely gorgeous! I love it! Especially as my house is an odd-sock museum with no one wearing a matching pair unless they are tights or bare feet! Lucy x

Fabulous hat. So rare to see any nightcaps these days let alone gorgeous stripey ones with pom poms.

Thank you Thank you for the daring Odd Sock Soup!!! I so love it......
Is there somewhere with the pattern for making one my self? I have been writing a children's book and I want to make a little tiny one about my character.
My character is an elf so I really really like the hat you knitted too.
Happy St. Patricks Day and Easter!

Thank you for the zine ... it is too dear and struck more than a few cords....whose life isn't plagued by odd socks? It would make a good frieze for my laundry
