one elf, two elf....

There's a distinct chill in the air today...lucky I finished Charlotte's elf hat over the weekend. Both the girls insist on wearing them to bed even though it's really not that cold. They look pretty cute though!

Two_elves
I've used the same pattern as I did for Rose's hat  with a variation in the stripes and colours....you can find it here on Amanda's blog. Of course I added a pom pom just like Rose's, as requested by Charlotte.
Just don't ask about the baby blanket or the half finished cat....

one cross goblin....

Ever since I finished this zine, Rose has been busy with her own book...I finally finished scanning and colouring the images for her, so that she could add the text.

elf girl

Rose_elf
"mama, can I please have a nightcap?"

Once I had established that Rose was after a pointy kind of hat such as you might wear to bed, as opposed to a scotch and ice after dinner,I went on the hunt for a pattern. Amanda over at Zhinka dinka doo has a pattern for an 'Elfin cap" that was just the thing (thank you Amanda!).
It only took a few evenings to complete using Jo Sharp Dk merino wool and the magic loop method on a size 4.5mm ( size 8) circular.

Now Charlotte is asking where her hat is....
Looks like the baby's crochet blanket will have to wait a bit longer.

(So glad to see that the odd sock soup'  mini zine is turning up in letter boxes all over the world...thank you for all of the feedback!)

Just to let those of you who commented on this post 'just add sunlight'  know- the stamps packs are going into the mail tomorrow. For some reason a whole lot of emails bounced back so if you did comment and didn't hear from me please email me your address...I have an envelope with your name on it! ( Melissa ( tiny happy) and Julie no need as I have your addresses already).

Oh and yesterday's cryptic post...just add it to the title of today's post. Perhaps that will make it clearer. I actually thought I was being quite obvious, myself......

first time taggee.....

4_girls

after a year of blogging I have been tagged! Not as a thinking blog ( thank goodness, way too much pressure there!) but by the lovely Julie to do a nice simple one.

The rules:
• Start with 7 random facts/habits about yourself
• People who are tagged have to write their 7 things on their blog
• Then choose another 7 people to get tagged and list their names
Here goes ( hey you there, yes you! Wake up, this is important )

1.I don't eat bananas.
I love banana cake, banana smoothies & banana Paddle Pops but I cannot bring myself to eat an actual banana - it's  the texture that gets me. For the same reason I do not eat sultanas. An oyster however is an entirely different kettle of fish. Can't get enough oysters.

2. I once appeared on national daytime TV dressed as the Mrs Fields Bear ( you go, Deb!) with Kerri Anne Kennerly.

3.I can go to sleep anytime ,anywhere- a very handy trick I  learned at uni. It's the waking up bit that I'm not so good at.

4. I can quite happily reread a favourite book - I'm not talking once or twice or three times. More like 50 or 60 or more....I have lost track of the times I have read Pride and Prejudice or the Lord of the Rings trilogy. Alice and Wonderland is another well worn book in my house.

5. I drink water constantly, all day, through the night - I am never without a bottle or two by my side. I think I must dehydrate easily. That or I'm just very thirsty.

6.Bono from U2 and I share the same birthday( not year though, he's a wee bit older than I am)...unfortunately we do not share the same vocal abilities, vast fortune or fleet of private jets.....

7.I am quite fond of drinking dandelion tea...with skim evaporated milk...a habit that most people around me find:

a) slightly weird

b) slightly distasteful

c).both of the above. I must say I can understand why they feel that way...it really is quite a disgusting brew and does embarrass me somewhat ......

Now I'm meant to tag seven people

Tash, Belinda,Di,Penny,Tamara,Cathy, and Jennifer....

In case you're wondering, the lovely peg dolls were made by Rose and Charlie as a very special present....not for Bono though.....

smallmums...and postcards

Jenny from South Australia took her set of postcards to school to show her students...for Mother's Day they all made their own 'smallmum" to give to their mothers. Jenny very kindly sent me some photos of the children's art work....
Mothers_day_washing
"my mum likes to put the washing on the washing line"

Mothers_day_checkers
"my mum loves to play checkers"

Mothers_day_0bed
"lying in bed is a treat for my mum"...I just love the music sheet linen...
I can't wait to hear what the mums thought of them!

Some of you managed to find the second pack of 'smallpeople' postcards in the shop before I had a chance to mention it...there's a pack going off to Switzerland tomorrow and a few already on their way to the US.

Pack
If you want to have Violet, Beth, Alice, Charlotte and Yolande live at your house then have a look over
here
...

The original smallpeople collages will be in the appleseed shop on Tuesday 15th at 8pm... about 10 are already spoken for but the rest of the crew will be there with bells on..... need to put this one on hold for a little while... as there are a few ideas in the works regarding the future direction of the smallpeople, it seems like a good idea to hold onto the originals for a while longer. I am now looking into the possibility of having full size prints made on archival quality paper as an alternative...will keep you posted. In the meantime if anyone is interested in having a custom made smallpeople collage just drop me a line for the details!
