but not so bushy tailed!
I could lay the blame for the lack of posts on the very slow and very unreliable wireless connection I have been using. However, now that broadband is up and running again, I can no longer use that as an excuse. The real reason? I am just too tired. Grace and I are not getting much quality sleep lately - in fact ever since we started packing up the house way back in November, she has gone from waking once a night ( two at the most and rarely) to every three hours. Once we actually moved out of the house, Grace went from every three, to two and then finally over Christmas to every one to one and half hours. The only way to get her back to sleep, apart from letting her cry ( not a choice or option for me) is to feed her. I saw little point in trying to change her sleeping patterns until we were settled in our new home.
Our furniture arrives on Thursdayy so I am hoping that being back in her normal cot ( rather than a portacot which is killing my back and neck) combined with gentle settling techniques from "The No-Cry Nap Solution: Guaranteed Gentle Ways to Solve All Your Naptime Problems" by Elizabeth Pantley, will help us to find a good nights rest in the not too distant future. I have been using some of the suggestions over the past week and have definitely seen an improvement- some longer sleeps and no dummy at all night or day.
Apart from being obsessed by the idea of more than three hours unbroken sleep, the big girls and I have been exploring in the Deer Sanctuary next door. Now that we are properly equipped with gumboots (or wellies as they are called around here) and have become used to the deer poo ( of which there is an awful lot!) we have discovered all sorts of natural wonders.
Here is one of them....an enormous tree with my two girls to give you an idea of scale...
and Charlotte and Rose inside the tree! They are sure that this is a place that the fairies must come to play, and have plans for some lovely picnics here when it is a little warmer.
Next week, I hope to be able to write about more sleep, more energy and something creative! I'm afraid that there's not been much happening on the creative side at the moment. I am also looking forward to catching up on my favourite blogs and replying to the many people who have taken the time to visit and leave a comment. I have a long overdue post on the beautiful and thoughtful backtack parcel that I received from the generous blooming heather. I am still in awe of the amazing gifts she put together fro me. They deserve a post all to themselves.
And please, if you have any hints, tips or experience with helping babies learn to sleep ( especially the ones who need to suck to sleep!) feel free to offer advice.
For now,I have am involved in at least one crafty creative thing; the Book is almost ready to launch!
More updates soon....
