It was a brisk three degrees by the time Gracie and I reached our destination this afternoon: the Savill Gardens
A perfect temperature for a quick stroll around the gardens.
After all, the sky was clear and I was determined to make the most of the pale afternoon sunshine. Grace was bundled up in her pram and all that was visible were her big dark eyes. She soon fell asleep so obviously the cold was not bothering her. I realized after the first minute of pushing the pram that forgetting my full gloves was a bit of a problem. All I had in my bag were fingerless mittens- very stylish hand knit ones but which offered little protection from the bitterly cold wind. I was determined however, to finish my walk. I had come to get fresh air and fresh air I would get even if my fingers turned blue and fell off getting it.
The winter trees were so beautiful in their stark bareness, that I made my numb fingers work to capture a picture. Then I hurried back inside to where all the sane people were sitting and bought the most expensive hot chocolate I have ever had. I didn’t really care as it did double duty defrosting my hands and face- well worth every last cent( or rather pence) indeed.
Tomorrow we are all off to Salzburg
And yes, my gloves are already packed.
(Back in a few days….)
