a bit proud of myself...

Rose_and_charlie

I finished Rose's cardigan.
Let me say it again.
I finished Rose's cardigan.
And I finished it before it was three sizes too small for her.
So I'm a little bit chuffed.
Now I can understand that all of those dedicated knitters out there who start garments, knit garments and finish garments will not find it such an amazing event.
However, anyone who knits garments the way I do- that is a front ,a sleeve and half a back before losing interest and starting a new project- will appreciate the enormity of this occasion.
There is still just enough winter left for her to get a bit of wear out of it and then she can wear it again next year. I suspect that the sleeves will be a little short next year, despite the fact that I knitted them to the length measurements for a ten year old. Rose has very long arms that seem to get longer by the month. Along with her feet! I am not the least bit bothered as it is considered very chic in Parisian circles to show a little bit of wrist bone. If need be, we will move to Paris just so that Rose can wear her cardigan and still feel fashionable.
Charlotte is wearing her newly finished hat ...I am rather happy with it but don't feel the need to jump up and down about it.
After all, I've finished hats before.
But not a cardigan.
See the cardigan. Now I'm a bit proud of that.

pattern notes:
cardigan from 'Rowan Junior' ISBN 0-9540949-5-6 , Design 17 'Rose'( see it was meant to be) knitted in Jo Sharp DK wool, can't remember the colour names but let's go with royal blue and light blue!
hat- made up the pattern, knitted in 'rose garden' raindrops wool

And those bows... made of course by the lovely Tamara...

Wow - the cardigan is great! Even being a knitter I can understand the issues!! I have so many unfinished objects! Including the teddy bear I promised my colleague's son!! That will need to be my task for this week!!

Oh I'm cheering for you Marianne!! I knit like that too and so I can imagine your joy. I've never managed to finish anything bigger than a baby cardy. Yay for you!!

The cardigan is beautiful. You should feel chuffed.
Thanks for the mention about the bows. Hey guess what...my website is up and running.
Yippee.
I am about to do a post.
Good to hear from you.

well done it's truly beautiful. sadly it's only rectangles for me. The hat is groovy also.
next?

Well done on your finished cardy! I too have trouble finishing a big knitting project-so many things to do!! Have a great week :)

Love the cardi - I like to knit but can only really do baby knits or hats & bags (small stuff) as I too loose interest as want to start something I can finish & sit back and admire that day really!

Can't blame you a bit for being chuffed about the cardigan. It is wonderful! ...as is the hat!
No doubt about who the kids belong to!!!
Sweet!

You certainly should be very proud of yourself. Gorgeous cardigan. And speaking of someone who's only ever made short and sweet knitting projects, I totally understand!!!

The cardigan looks wonderful, and I know about their feet growing all the time. My 6 yr old already wears a size 1 shoe, and I am sure every 6 mths they increase a size. I love the cute hat too, so pretty on her.

I can understand your excitement at completing the cardigan. I also start many projects and get part way through and start something else. It's quite an exhilerating feeling when these projects actually get finished.

I love the hat, could you share the pattern please?

Congrats! Finishing your first sweater is exciting! Your daughters are adorable.

Gorgeous cardigan, beautiful children too.

Well done... the cardigan looks wonderful!! The girls as well :)

the cardigan looks fab...beautiful colour..it really suits Rose
Love her new hairdo too!!
both your girls are gorgeous!
