and just a little bit quirky to boot! Not quite sure why they went to all the trouble of painting the tree trunk and then left the elf completely white....though I kind of prefer him that way. I found him in a collectibles store in Leura and he now makes himself useful by holding an assortment of my pens and brushes.
You may recall that last year I had the good fortune to meet up with JT from Counting Mermaids .She gave me a lesson on how to spin and put together a kit to get me started. Included in that kit were some wool batts that JT had prepared and dyed herself. This is my first attempt at handspun wool - a lovely mix of mohair, silk, merino, tencel, corriedale, alpaca, angelina and gromark!
I'm trying to work out what to do with it, as I'm quite curious to see how it feels to work with. At the moment , I'm just enjoying the colours...
This is what I'm working on at the moment- some hand dyed pure merino wool ( also from JT). I have managed to spin this lot a little finer and a bit more evenly than my first attempt. I just love that hint of green coming through.... next up is to try dyeing some batts myself with the Kool Aid that came in my kit.
