for lovers of fun crochet

Look at that smile....now tell me honestly, could you have put this book back on the shelf?
Especially when you were actually saving money by buying it ( it was my favourite  bookstores birthday and lovely souls were giving cardholders 20% off!). At least that's how I like to look at it - I mean I certainly would have bought it even without the discount so really it was the sensible thing to do!

"Choto crochet" ISBN 4-277-43059-7 is such a joyous little book. The imagery is colourful, quirky and fun and the projects are all so do-able.
Look at the aprons:

and then look at those cute kids.
And then this page :

This woman is so happy - and why? Because my friends, not only does she have a fun pair of mitts keeping her hands warm but she has never lost the talent of make believing she's a cat! All dignified kimono , hair and glasses and "grrrrr...watch out here I come with my snug paws to get you!"

And just to prove to all of those who doubt that I do anything besides hang about in the Japanese craft book section of Kinokuniya take a look here:

Mitts

becomes a pair of green girly mitts , inspired by the  lovely cat lady.
Seriously easy to make - one night watching "Walk the Line" and there they are. No flowers yet but I had to get a move on my July mood board before August rolls around.
Actually I quite like them as they are - but they are for Georgie- the- wonder- girl's paws so I'll leave that up to her.
I think that the matching head thing is a fun idea but I might just pass up on that for now.  I might make another pair  since there is enough of the jumper left to make a set for the whole family.
Come to think of it , they would be perfect for little ones as their fingers are still free to do important stuff like pick up sticks and leaves and who knows what else and put them in their pockets for me to (hopefully) find before I throw them in the wash!

Oh, and while I was in the bookstore, I saved more money by purchasing another book ( did you really think I would leave with just one?) .
But I'll save that one for another day..... mood board , here I come....
