introducing...Frog! When I get around to it I will have to dream up a more imaginative name. My very first attempt at amigurumi as I have a swap looming on the horizon with someone who is rather fond of these little critters. For some bizarre reason, I decided that on my very first attempt I would not use a pattern (?) but just wing it instead. Still not sure if that was such a good idea as my frog is a little alien looking. I am very happy however with his little finger and toes - very tree frog like! and the shape of his arms and legs.
Here he is in all his froggy glory ...incidentally he was made up of scraps of wool form the same left over tapestry odds and end that the 100 flower scarf was made from. I am really getting great value from that find! I used odd bits because I wanted the frog to be a mottled green and I'm very happy that I did it this way ( apart from all of the fiddly knotting of bits together.) Maybe I'll christen him "Vinnie" as that was the source of his wool.
I have decided on my first two projects for Wardrobe Refashion 06 .....first up is a simple one. Take two favourite but stained tee shirts and use the prints/appliques to dress up two plain tees we have in the drawers...sounds too easy so hopefully photos to follow tomorrow evening.
Second project is a little more involved. Take a pair ( or three) of worn out jeans and turn them into girly, twirly skirts.....
This is before..and after..well just give me a few days and you'll see! I'm a bit excited about this one as Rose is a long tall stick of spaghetti so she grows too tall for all of her pants before she has a chance to grow into the waist. At least this way, I can utilize some of her size 3 pants that are a bit too worn/torn/stained for Charlie to inherit but still have a spark of life left in them. Anyway, it sounds good in theory.... ( especially when you consider that the above jeans are double maybe even triple hand me downs - how's that for thriftyness?)
