Hmmmm....last time I let a four and a half year old tackle Illustration Friday! .I think I like Rose's effort  better than mine.....

I know its kinda obvious but.......here it is - my offering for "robot" for Illustration Friday.....will endeavour to be a little less literal next week...

voila! ..well almost...

too many projects , not enough hours in the day...
Here are a few projects that I have on the go - hopefully posting them will give me the extra bit of oomph that I need to get them finished. If only I didn't get so distracted by things like eating and sleeping.....
Unfinished item no. 1 Rose's purple poncho - so close , so close...just need to finish (meaning start) the pom poms and decide exactly what I'm doing with the pansies. Leave them off? Too girly/fussy or cute in a not too cutesy way? Hmmm, still needs some thought and some pom poms ....
Unfinished item no. 2  Charlie's cot blanket/ cuddle thing or Rose's wrap skirt- can't even decide what it's going to be and its almost finished. Alos requires more thought obviously...

Unfinished item no. 3 Flower scarf for my secret indie swap - hopefully she doesn't look at my blog and blow my cover. Very happy with it so far ....in fact very tempted to keep it only I think that would be breaking all the good karma rules of the swap universe..

Here is one thing I did manage to finish - a bag for 'littlechibi" from  the aforementioned  swap. Its now on its way to Austin, Texas with a few other little goodies.....hope she likes it ( what on earth do I do if she hates it???)

Carla sent me this one - I've no idea where it's from or who it's by( if you know, let me know and I'll add in credits). Its part of a series of knitted/crocheted figures that are just a little bit different to the cuddly things we're used to seeing. Something to think about for the next project......the rest I'll upload to Flickr for anyone who's interested.....

my first attempt for Illustration Friday - better late than never, I suppose.....

channelling Carol Brady....

Or should that be Alice, as she always seemed to be the one in the kitchen cooking up a storm (most likely tuna casserole or macaroni cheese). I'm fairly certain, however, that you would never catch me in one of those ugly blue uniforms that she always got about in, so I think I'll stick to Carol in her groovy threads. Maybe not the mini skirts, though or for that matter the gabardine flared jumpsuit.

Anyway, the point of it all is that I have been baking up a storm this week. Rose's kindergarten needed baked goods for a fund raising stall  so I thought I'd tackle some biscuits. Yummy ginger nuts and  pretty raspberry coconut rings. You can always rely on the good ol' Women's Weekly cook book.

   
 

To get me in the homebake mood I popped on the cute vintage apron that I accidentally bought in a shop in Newtown. Accidental,in that I didn't realise I had purchased it until I got home. I simply picked it up to admire its lovely rosiness and the girl in the shop obviously took this as an "add to shopping cart" sign! Obviously meant to be, as my first attempt at baking whilst wearing it was a success.

I had this awful feeling that at the end of the sale, my little bikkies would still be sitting on the table, when all else had been snapped up.Oh, the shame ..... However,I have heard via the grapevine that they had indeed found a buyer and I could hold my head up high next time I do Kindy drop off!
What a relief!

Opportunity here for a quick proud mama snap as its cooking related...Chef  Rose with her creations..

On a less domestic note, I made time this week to do a few quick sketches. Considering how rusty I am at present with the pencil, I am happy with the results.

Paper bag girl is inspired by Rose, who when she was "little" ( she's all grown up now at 4 1/2 and must be called "Rose" NOT "Rosie") took great delight in running around, nude with an empty Huggies box over her head. Simple pleasures, indeed. Now we take half an hour to decide on the right outfit and there are often  tears of frustration when she just can't get the look she is after.

Can't wait until Charlie hits full on fashion mode - what fun the morning rush hour will be then. At present, she is happiest, when she has managed to snaffle a pair of Rose's undies (hopefully clean) and is parading around with them on her head. Another happy snap opportunity - Charlie looking very serious about getting those  colours mixed to just the right shade of muck!

 

I drew the tree during my last visit to Steph's house - a fun day of hot gemscones ( Martha Stewart eat your heart out) , Easter egg hunts and lots of tea and coffee ( all about food isn't it?).

Catgirl was one of those scribbles just for fun.

Last but not least, and very exciting as well, I have discovered the world of swapping. After the disappointment of missing out on back tack III  , I stumbled across mention of a teacup swap at NIKKI-SHELL  - I followed the links and found my self signing up for my first three swaps at swap bot - can't wait to get my swap partners and start sending out ( and receiving) those packages!

My first effort at "collages of colour" - my life seems to be coloured duck egg blue at the moment...surely as excuse to go window shopping at Tiffany's?
Inspired by the vibrant collages at curiousbird I just had to give it a go.
